WHY IS PRESERVING OPEN SPACE SO IMPORTANT?

Preservation of Town's Rural Character
> To preserve the property values of neighborhood.
> To prevent the loss of natural beauty.

Economic Loser for the Town - Increase in demands for public
services, including schools, police, roads and other services more than
negates any increase in tax base.

Benefits of Open Space
>To preserve a 'Green-way' with other open spaces in the center of town.
>To preserve dwindling meadow habitat's for wildlife
>To preserve and protect the water quality of Taunton Lake
DONATE NOW - FUND OUR LAND ACQUISITION SINKING FUND

After the Bittersweet success that our Preserving Castle Hill campaign two things were
clear:  1)  The Community wants to see Newtown retain its rural character and is willing to
donate funds to this cause and 2) The Community can not rely on our Town government do
this alone.  The NFA wants to position itself for next time an opportunity arises and to
actively be in a position to target "at risk properties" with high conservation values by
creating a sinking fund to acquire these properties or purchase conservation restrictions
when land owners can not afford to make donations
Funds collected under this campaign will be expressly for the NFA’s
efforts to acquire/preserve land.  Your pledge is a unconditional
firm commitment from you that the NFA is relying on to execute
these transactions.  If NFA determines at any time not to pursue the
acquisition further, pledged funds will be returned to donors, on a
pro rata basis from the pool of funds received, after payment of
administrative costs.
