The Newtown Forest Association (NFA) is sponsoring a hike on June 2, 2012 at the site of its Headquarters on the 170 acres Holcombe Wildlife Preserve
and Memorial Trail Properties at 55/65 Great Hill Road, Newtown, CT 06470.  The Hike will start at 1PM (PROMPTLY) and will take approximately 2
hours; however, there is an option to shorten the hike by taking an alternative route back to the parking area.  The hike will travel through the fringe of
several hay fields, divert into the woods, back into hay fields, climb to an elevated vernal pool, then descend before concluding on the top of Holcombe
Hill, the highest point in Newtown, possibly Fairfield County, where hikers will have a completely unobstructed view of Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield

This will be the sixth year the NFA has celebrated the Statewide CT Trails Day sponsored by the Connecticut Forest & Parks Association which expects
many similar events to also take place simultaneously across CT.

The NFA is a not-for-profit public charity.  The NFA is one of CT’s oldest private land trusts, preserving property since 1924, and currently owns over
1,100 acres.   For additional information about the NFA and this hike visit our website @
